PayPal even gets students' parents in on the action during the summer - during "PAYrents Week," parents of interns get an overview of the company and the internship program, as well as attend intern project showcases and fireside chats with company leaders. Other opportunities for professional development include resume and interview coaching, as well as a speaker series featuring PayPal executives like CEO Dan Schulman and plentiful networking opportunities. Near the end of the program, all interns deliver a presentation highlighting the work they've completed over the course of the summer. Teams across the company take on interns, who tackle projects like creating models to address fraud risk for PayPal's core product and building out business cases for Venmo QR codes. Interns spend 12 weeks embedded with their teams, working in technical roles like software engineering and machine learning, or other roles like marketing, business development, and finance. The company also offers internships throughout the year in its offices in Asia and Europe. Last summer, PayPal hosted interns from 206 different universities across its US offices. Interviews and hiring wrap up by the end of January for the coming summer. PayPal said it plans for all interviews this year to be virtual. The interview process varies slightly depending on the type of role - applicants for technical roles will complete a technical screen in addition to the two or three interviews with hiring managers required for non-technical positions. PayPal also partners with a variety of organizations to help recruit students for internships, including CodeHouse, INROADS, the National Association of Black Accountants, YearUp, and One Refugee. "There's a strong tie into both that functional area coupled with that passion for giving back and making a difference in your community, and so having areas that highlight that on a resume are something that would shine," Casey said. Resume reviews also include screening for the skills necessary for the types of projects an intern would be working on, whether that's programming experience for a software engineering role, or analytical skills for a finance or marketing position, for example.
